A Question
by FedUpJW ini would appreciate knowing from someone in the know if the goofy carts and rain covers are given to the congregation by the org.
or if the congregation has to pay the org for them.
i am sure i read that somewhere here in my lurking days, but am not finding it at present.. if the congregation is billed for it i intend to use that as a reason for my continued refusal to donate anything from now on.. thanks in advance..

"Who is Morris III?" Showed up in an FB thread--A surprising answer followed.
by oppostate inor maybe not so surprising after all, you be the judge....

Oh my God. This is the Internet at its funniest. Tony Morris has no relation to the Phillips Morris family or business. I knew him many years ago. He has always been drop-dead poor and so was his whole extended family. To Tony there is only the Witnesses. If you knew him you would know that. He is one of those people who literally cannot talk about any other subject. I know born agains like this. I know JW's like this. He was in Vietnam. When he got out and became a Witness all those years ago he wouldn't shut up about it. It was in every one of his talks in the 70's.
A few things to clear up. Tony was not a witness when he was in Vietnam.
He never looked like the photo of that Joseph Parisi someone else posted in that other thread. In the early 1970's he was balding with black hair and looked much like he looked now only thinner.
He isn't someone else pretending to be Tony Morris. He's always been this same guy.
I can vouch for who he is going back to 1971.
If you met him (going all the way back to the early 70's) you either love him or can't stand him. He's not someone who leaves anyone in between about how they are going to feel about him.

Why isn't the Boston Globe doing a better job?
by Londo111 inhttps://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/regionals/north/2016/06/29/who-are-jehovah-witnesses-who-live-among/z39a6dvdcp5lvufo7y7ozo/story.html.
why isn't the boston globe doing a better job covering this group?.
after all, the movie spotlight won an oscar about this paper and their groundbreaking journalism into the catholic church covering child abuse.

The Catholic Church has had over 15,000 priests molest over 1 million kids, some in my family, and they hid and reassigned all of them over and over and over for 50 years and did nothing in almost every case.
That isn't exactly the same story as JW's.

Serena
by Darryl ini was watching serena win yet another wimbledon title recently (congrats to her) but it got me to thinking about her for a moment.
she identifies herself as a jw and if you look up any info on her it will tell you that her religion is jw so that means that she herself and the rest of the world identifies her as a jw.. for those of us who are df'd as well as those of you who are about to be df'd what is the reason?
and what is the main difference between a df and a fade away?

Hello? #1 All the things you are talking about are matters of conscience, i.e., playing sports, going to the Olympics, etc. Sometimes people get confused as to what is strongly suggested verses what is a hard and fast rule.
#2, there are many people nowadays who identify themselves with JW's who are not baptized JW's like actor Terrence Howard. If people mistakenly think he's an active witness or the Williams sisters are nobody is keeping tabs and they don't have to "walk the walk."
Singer Patti Smith was brought up a JW, her sister still is, and she has a lot of nice things to say about JW's in her old age, but she doesn't have to do anything because she may like the witnesses or associates with some of them. That whole idea is kind of silly.

Peace and Security!
by biblexaminer inwatchtower teaches that soon there will be a huge development that will be a sign for jehovah's witnesses!
5:3 the watchtower magazine, principle journal of jehovah's witnesses, writes.... however, just before that day of jehovah begins, world leaders will be saying “peace and security!” this may refer to one event or to a series of events.

I don't know anyone who is a JW who is waiting for something to be written to them. If there is a declaration of "True Peace and Security" it will be obvious. Anything the JW's write will simply be a validation. Not, okay, this is it this time.
You've got to pinch that 11 button of hatred down to ten sometimes in order to think straight. Don't get so worked up. They're gonna do whatever they're going to do. Just live your life and try and enjoy it!

Spotlight won Best Film
by Sugar Shane induring the post-awards interview, the director said that the story is not over.
it's still ongoing.
could this have been a vieled jab at jws, and/or a hint at a spotlight part 2?
-
Mad Irishman
Yeah, he was saying the story is not over, because he was talking about JW's.
Some of you have your heads up you know where. Everything in the world does not revolve around Jehovah's Witnesses or your angst about them. You need to get out into the world, read some books, learn history, travel, get an education, and fill your life with things to do and that interest you. Stop obsessing about JW's with everything.
And if you knew anything about the Catholic Church child abuse scandal you'd know that this is the biggest child abuse scandal in the history of mankind. The surface hasn't even been scratched yet. If people knew the real extent of what happened they would find it hard to believe. So, yeah, wait until the big news about it drops. Then you won't be reading into things like this.

Are JW Celebrities Getting paid to say they are JW?
by Luther bertrand ini have always wondered why prince and michael jackson stayed in good standing for some of the stuff they released as jws?
or how the williams sisters could stay in sports without all the bs?
after all the revelations about the org that i have heard... i wonder if they are paid and the reason they get away with it is that they are pr strategies and really they could give a crap about the org?
-
Mad Irishman
The Williams sisters are not baptized so nobody can really influence them as to what they do or say.
Michael Jackson was kicked out as a JW.
Prince does what he wants.
You really don't know the Witnesses if you think members of the Governing body would pay them. Its laughable. They can't stomach even the most minor of JW celebrities.
No offense. But sometimes some of the things put forward on this site are so crazy that it makes ex-JW's seem crazy. Sometimes people need to think hard before they post.
